The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and several local government units (LGUs) in Bohol to establish and maintain a 243-hectare forest plantation over the next three years.
The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by NGCP President and CEO Anthony L. Almeda, who emphasized the company’s commitment to reforestation and sustainable community development.
“This MOA supports reforestation and environmental sustainability efforts in Bohol. NGCP is always ready to work with LGUs in protecting the environment,” Almeda said.
DENR Secretary Raphael Lotilla signed on behalf of the agency, alongside representatives from the Bilar Water and Sanitation Multi-Purpose Cooperative and the municipalities of Batuan, Bilar, Catigbian, Sagbayan, and Sierra Bullones.
Beyond its environmental initiatives, NGCP also underscored the importance of the Cebu–Bohol Interconnection Project, which secures a stable power supply to support the province’s growing socio-economic needs.
