TAGBILARAN CITY – An early morning explosion damaged a restaurant in Barangay Dampas on Friday, sparking fears among nearby residents but causing no injuries.
The blast occurred at around 2:15 a.m. at the Bonchon Chicken restaurant, which was set to open later in the day. The restaurant is located near Shakey’s and Kenny Rogers along CPG North Avenue Extension.
The explosion caused a total power outage from Dampas to Capitol Valley, which lasted until around 3:10 a.m.
Clearing operations are ongoing as debris and shattered glass littered the area. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast, marking the third fire-related incident reported in the vicinity.
Police and fire officials have urged the public to temporarily avoid the area to allow for continued investigation and cleanup.
Local officials reminded business owners and residents to regularly check electrical connections and ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, noting that all establishments should have proper permits.
Despite the damage, no casualties were reported.
