In a move that strengthens academic collaboration and resource sharing, Bohol Island State University (BISU) and Colegio de Loon (CDL) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to provide reciprocal access to their library resources.

According to BISU, the agreement, signed at the BISU Office of the University President in Tagbilaran City, was led by BISU President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso and CDL President Dr. Prisciano S. Legitimas.

Under the MOA, both institutions will grant their students access to physical and digital library collections and allow the borrowing of materials across campuses. They will also implement inter-library loan services for titles unavailable in their own holdings.

“This is our way of supporting like-minded institutions committed to quality education,” said Dr. Penaso, calling the rise of new colleges in Bohol “a blessing to Boholanos.”

The initiative is in response to recommendations by the Commission on Higher Education – Regional Quality Assessment Team (CHED RQuAT) Region 7, which required CDL to expand its library holdings for its Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) program.

Dr. Maria Lilibeth Castil, BISU Vice President for Academics and Quality Assurance, emphasized the agreement’s role in helping CDL address gaps in learning resources as a young institution.

Also present at the ceremony were BISU Main Campus Teacher Education Dean Dr. Renario Hinampas, CDL college librarian Aileen I. Lopez, and BISU Main Campus librarian Annalyn Ravelo.

Legitimas, CDL’s founding president, expressed his gratitude: “I deeply thank Dr. Penaso and the BISU community for their generosity in helping us open a college in Loon.”
