TUBIGON, BOHOL — Police arrested a man allegedly involved in the illegal numbers game locally known as “swertres” during an anti-illegal gambling operation on Friday afternoon, July 18, 2025, in Barangay Cabulijan, Tubigon town.
The suspect was identified as Joy Baroro, 38, married, and a resident of Tubigon. He was reportedly caught in the act of issuing number combinations, according to the Tubigon Municipal Police Station (MPS).
The operation was led by Police Master Sergeant Ramil Duyag under the supervision of Police Lt. Joselito Justol, Deputy Chief of Police, in coordination with the Regional Special Operations Unit (RSPU-7) supervised by PLtCol Wilfredo Transporte Taran Jr., and the Provincial Mobile Force Squadron under Police Major Philip Cabardo Quilala.
Recovered from the suspect were one marked P20 bill used as bet-bust money, a stub sheet with the number combination “143-20”, pad of swertres stubs with other combinations, P125 in cash believed to be gambling proceeds, and a carbon paper and a black ballpen used in recording bets.
The arrest was documented using two alternative recording devices (ARDs). Grajido was informed of the charges against him and his constitutional rights in a dialect he understood. He was then taken to Tubigon Community Hospital for medical examination before being turned over to the Tubigon Police Station along with the confiscated evidence for proper disposition.
Authorities say this operation is part of their sustained campaign against illegal gambling activities in the province.
