BACLAYON, BOHOL — A Holy Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, July 2, at the centuries-old Church of the Immaculate Conception in Baclayon, Bohol — one of the oldest Catholic churches in the Philippines.

The liturgical celebration was led by Bishop Patricio Buzon, with Bishops Ruben Labajo and Marvyn Maceda as concelebrants.

The Mass was part of the ongoing 130th Annual Retreat and Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) being held in Bohol.

In his homily, Bishop Buzon reflected on God as the source of true peace, expressing hope for an end to war and violence around the world.

After the Mass, a dinner was hosted at the church grounds, sponsored by the Bohol Filipino Chinese Community and the local government unit of Baclayon. Guests were serenaded by performances from the Dimiao Children’s Rondalla, Music and Me, and the Saint Padre Pio Choir.

Baclayon Mayor Alvin Uy said the presence of the bishops and delegates added spiritual and historical significance to the occasion.

More than 80 bishops and Synodal delegates are attending the gathering, which focuses on spiritual renewal and synodality.
