TAGBILARAN CITY—After years of service in the medical field, Dr. Mutya Kismet Reyes Tirol has entered the realm of provincial legislation, taking her oath as a member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol.
The ceremony was held on Tuesday at the University of Bohol quadrangle and was administered by Hon. Jennifer Chaves-Marcos, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 2.
A former Chief of Hospital at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center, Tirol is widely recognized for her leadership in the healthcare sector. Her shift from hospital administration to the legislative chamber marks a significant move — one that brings medical insight to provincial policymaking at a time when health systems and public welfare remain central concerns.
Beyond her professional credentials, Tirol is no stranger to public service. She is the daughter of the late Governor and Congressman David B. Tirol and former Provincial Board Member Amalia Reyes-Tirol. Her grandfather, Atty. Victoriano D. Tirol Sr., was co-founder and the first president of the University of Bohol — the very institution that hosted her oath-taking.
With a deep understanding of both public health and community needs, Tirol is expected to be a key advocate for health-driven legislation and inclusive development in Bohol.
