A Boholana who was a graduate from University of the Philippines (UP) – Diliman took the second spot in the October 2023 Geodetic Engineer Licensure Examinations, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced.
Genny Marie Ceruela Geñoso of Barangay Cabawan in Maribojoc town placed second with 89.40 percent.
Joshua Carl Fajardo from University of SouthEastern Philippines-Davao City was named topnotcher, gaining a percentage rating of 89.60%.
Geñoso graduated summa cum laude at UP last August, 86 years after a student from Engineering graduated summa cum laude.
The UP Society of Geodetic Engineering Majors congratulated Geñoso for ranking Top 2.
“Heartfelt congratulations on this outstanding achievement. Your UP GEOP family is proud of you! 💚 Padayon, Engineer,” it said in a statement.
In a Facebook post, Gov. Aris Aumentado congratulated the topnotcher.
“Garbo ka sa katawhang Bol-anon, ug magsilbi unta kining inspirasyon sa uban na maningkamot aron makab-ot usab ang ilang gipangandoy sa kinabuhi,” said Aumentado.
Geñoso will get P75,000 from the provincial government.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conducted the licensure exam in Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cebu, Davao, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga on October 25 and 26, 2023. With a report from Helen Castaño
