Dead body found in Barangay Mansasa identified as Russian national

Tagbilaran City — Police have identified the decomposing body discovered along Mansasa Seaside in Barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City, on Saturday, June 22, 2025.

According to a police report, at around 11:50 a.m., the Tagbilaran City Police Station received a call from a barangay tanod reporting the presence of a lifeless body at Purok 6, Mansasa Seaside. Responding officers immediately proceeded to the area.

Initial investigation indicated that the victim was a foreign national, as some local residents claimed to recognize him. The body was retrieved by personnel from Holy Name Funeral Home, where it was later officially identified as Aleksei Gribanov, 55 years old, a single Russian national who had been staying at Purok 1, Upper Katipunan, Barangay Mansasa.

Carmencita Comenador, a resident of the barangay and the person with whom Gribanov had been living, positively confirmed his identity. She told investigators that Gribanov had not returned home for about four days before his body was found.

The Tagbilaran City Police immediately requested assistance from the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit (BPFU) to process the scene. Dr. Bryan Nelson Virtusio from the City Health Office also arrived to assist with the investigation.

Authorities reported that the body was already in an advanced stage of decomposition at the time of its discovery. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding Gribanov’s death.
