Panglao, Bohol — In a show of environmental responsibility and community cooperation, the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Panglao led a coastal clean-up drive at Danao Beach, Barangay Danao, Panglao on June 21, 2025.
The activity, conducted in partnership with Panglao Volunteers, local stakeholders, PISTA INC., and the barangay officials of Danao, resulted in the collection of 50 sacks of assorted waste along an estimated one-kilometer stretch of shoreline.
Organizers said the clean-up aimed to raise awareness on the importance of protecting the marine environment, especially in popular tourist destinations like Panglao.
“We remind everyone, especially our boat owners, operators, and residents, that keeping our shores clean is a shared responsibility,” said one of the organizers.
The Coast Guard urged the public to take part in future clean-up initiatives and help preserve Panglao’s coastal areas for marine life, local livelihoods, and future generations.
“A clean sea not only boosts tourism but is crucial for the health of our marine ecosystems and the well-being of our communities,” the group added.
Organizers emphasized that small, consistent actions can lead to significant positive changes for the environment.
