Mayor stops water activity after foreigners drowned in Baclayon

Baclayon Mayor Atty. Alvin Uy has stopped all water activities in tourism in this town by issuing an executive order no. 57 following the drowning incident of foreign nationals off Pamilacan island.

He said in his EO that all water activities shall cease temporarily pending investigation of the incident in said island.

Municipal Health Officer Dr. Justin Roa said that after examination the two aged South Korean nationals were dead of drowning on Thursday, May 28.

Identities of the victims were Kwon Sung Il, 77, male married and Choi Duk Sun, 73, female married, all residents of Seoul, South Korea.

Both were guests of Go2 Dive establishment in said island were having snorkeling and swimming.

“Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed onboard the dive boat with the assistance of MDRRMO Baclayon personnel” by the Philippine coast Guard, but to no avail, the report said.

Notification and coordination with Korean Consulate for consular assistance and photo documentation were done at the scene.

Bohol Provincial Tourism Office believes that the EO does not include the whale/dolphin watching off the island. (rvo)
