Following the detection of cases of mpox in neighboring provinces, the provincial government of Bohol said it created a task force to strengthen response efforts and minimize the spread of the viral illness.

Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado on Thursday issued Executive Order No. 28 creating the task force.

Aumentado clarified that Bohol has no cases of Mpox yet but they are closely monitoring the situation through the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

He urged the public to be careful and always maintain good personal hygiene, avoid crowded places as a preventive measure and immediately report to the nearest health facility anyone suspected of showing signs and symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, chills, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and rashes.

Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, is a viral illness caused by the monkeypox virus, a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus.
