Nang Daday, Bohol’s Queen of Sikwate, dies at 73

Regalada Dote-Binong, popularly known as Nang Daday, died on Wednesday, May 28. She was 73.

Her family and workers confirmed the death.

Nang Daday served sikwate (hot chocolate drink) at her stall at Cogon Market in Tagbilaran City. She moved to Riverside in Dauis town in 2019 after her stall and the whole market was gutted by fire.

Her passion for making sikwate and puto maya earned her the nickname “Bohol’s Queen of Sikwate.”

Several officials sent their sympathies via microblogging sites. 

“Rest in Peace Manang Daday😢,” said
Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado who even hired Nang Daday on Dec. 29, 2024 to serve sikwate to his visitors.

Inabanga mayor-elect Dexter Ancla posted a photo of Nang Daday.

“The best Hot Chocolate in the whole wide world is sweeter with your smile. Nang Daday with your passing, your hot chocolate will never be the same. I will miss you! Thank you for the sweet chocolate memories,” he said.

On Facebook, user Leo Cuadra said,
“Di ka taga Bohol kung wa ka kaila ani niya.”
