Reelectionist Sen. Lito Lapid wants to boost further the tourism industry in Bohol following his three-day visit in the province.

He said Bohol’s various tourist spots, as well as its native cuisine and delicacies, make the province a unique tourist destination, both for local and foreign visitors.

The senator, chair of the Senate Committee on Tourism, said he has tied up with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) headed by his son Mark Lapid to identify and develop potential tourist destinations, as well as providing funds to existing tourist spots and infrastructures that need improvement and repair.

The Balicasag Island Dive Resort near Panglao Island in Bohol is among the tourist attractions in the country being managed by TIEZA.

Lapid said the agency has also allocated funds to improve and build various tourist facilities and infrastructures in Bohol like in Alona beach and docking areas in Abatan and Loboc rivers.

He also called on local government units, owners and operators of resorts and other tourist attractions, visitors, locals and other stakeholders to maintain cleanliness and strictly implement and follow environmental laws.

The senator who is seeking his fourth term in the senate also wants to promote medical and agri tourism, including One Town, One Product.

Apart from motorcades and meeting local officials in Bohol, Lapid also experienced Loboc River Cruise, one of the province’s major attractions that offers scenic river views with a floating buffet.
