SM City Tagbilaran holds groundbreaking

Another SM City mall will be constructed in Tagbilaran City in Bohol following its groundbreaking and capsule laying ceremonies on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025.

Steven Tan, president of SM Supermalls, with local officials headed by Gov. Aris Aumentado, Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap and other SM key and local officials joined the groundbreaking ceremony of the new branch which will become operational in 2028.

The new mall will be located along J.A. Clarin and C.P. Garcia Avenue.

SM City Tagbilaran will rise on a property of approximately 60,000 square meters.
The three-story building will offer world-class entertainment and leisure activities.

Tan said that the new mall has distinct local design that is world class.

“Some things are worth waiting for because we put out heart and soul to this project so much,” he said during his message.

He added that SM City Tagbilaran will highlight Bohol’s unique cultural identity blending seemingly with the local landscape and community.

Aumentado said the groundbreaking of the new SM mall is the realization of a long-held dream by “Boholanos for a new private development project that will meet their growing needs for shopping, dining, and opportunities.”

He added, “SM City Tagbilaran will serve as a symbol of Bohol’s progress and an invitation to others to consider making their next business moves on our shores.
The management of SM Supermalls just did the right and most strategic move to locate in Bohol. “

Mayor Yap said that SM City Tagbilaran aims to significantly enhance the local business landscape.

“We have proven that Tagbilaran remains as the most business friendly city in the Philippines,” she said.

With the construction of this SM, more employment will be created for Boholanos.

The SM Supermalls is part of the SM Prime Holdings.
