Lavatories at the Bohol – Panglao International Airport has suffered from water shortage, officials confirmed on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025.
Building attendants lined up with buckets and waited for water tankers to arrive.
The Bohol-Panglao International Airport is the ninth busiest airport in the country.
The lack of water supply at the airport toilets is now a problem for passengers using the toilets.
According to the airport’s management, the water shortage started on December 17, 2024.
Utility workers have to fetch a bucket of water from the water tanker and take it to the toilets for flushing.
On Thursday, a meeting was held at Governor’s Office at the Capitol with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap), Bohol Water Utilities, Inc., Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Vice Governor Tita Baja, and other key officials, focused on resolving the issue.
According to lawyer Rafael Tatlonghari, Caap Area 7 Manager, Richli Corporation attributed the shortage to a plant shutdown in Cortes town and unresolved valve issues.
As a solution, BWUI will deliver water to the airport using two tankers with capacities of 10,000 and 12,000 liters. The water will be connected to the airport’s pump house, enabling direct faucet flow instead of relying on pails as storage.
“Water in the next hour,” said provincial administrator Asteria Caberte. With a report from PIMO
