CEBU CITY – Authorities on Thursday, Nov. 14, led the destruction of P489-million worth of illegal drugs were destroyed on Thursday using the crematorium of a funeral parlor in the downtown area here.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas said that the destruction of 71,831 grams of shabu and other illegal drugs seizes in its various anti-illegal drugs operations in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies through incineration in a crematorium at Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Cebu City.
There were at least 1.9 kilos of shabu and other illegal drugs worth P13.4 million from Bohol burned.
Lt. Col. Norman Nuez, spokesman of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO), said
Thursday’s event highlighted the importance of joint effort by stakeholders and agencies in eliminating drugs from communities.
“Kini tungod sa paningkamot sa atong kapulisan ug sa suporta sa atong kumunidad ingon man sa atong mga opisyal nga gipanguluhan ni Gob. Aris Aumentado,” said Nuez.
PDEA-7 acting regional director Alex Tablate said the recoveries are a big step in the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs and demonstrates the region’s commitment to creating a drug-free environment through coordinated efforts and community support.
He said the destruction was an indication that no pieces of evidence recovered during operations were being recycled.
This has been the second drug destruction conducted by the law enforcement agencies this year.
