Boatman dead, 20 tourists rescued as boats capsize off Gak-ang Island in Panglao

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Western Bohol on Thursday reported that around 20 tourists have been rescued while a boatman died after their boats capsized in Gak-ang Island off Panglao town.

In a spot report, PCG – Western Bohol said three boats – RBCA Margie 2, RBCA Plaza and RBCA Leah Mae capsized due to the sudden occurrence of severe weather and sea conditions.

They went island-hopping in Balicasag Island.

The incident occurred at around 12 noon when the boats were battered by strong winds.

There were 20 tourists, mostly Koreans, rescued.

The boatman, Vito Vistal, 62, fell into the water and died.
