Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo of the Supreme Court and Associate Justices Ramon Paul Hernando and Samuel Gaerlan graced the inauguration and turn-over of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Hall of Justice in Talibon on Friday, April 26.

The newly constructed building houses RTC courts branches 52 and 101, and three rooms and offices for resident associate prosecutors, public lawyers, and mediators.

It is also equipped with security cameras, an internet connection, and sufficient parking spaces.

In his message, Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado welcomed the dignitaries and thanked the Supreme Court of the Philippines for the realization of the project through partnerships with the provincial government.

“In building a smart, resilient, and inclusive Bohol under this administration’s strategic change agenda, we must have a strong partnership with our judiciary, as this signifies the rule of law and emphasizes the importance of swift and upright justice,” Aumentado said in his message.

The governor expressed hopes that the new edifice will also improve the administration of justice.

“This building will serve as a beacon of justice and equality, enabling Boholanos and Filipinos to fully benefit from the fruits of independence that our forefathers have sacrificed before,” he added.

Rep. Maria Vanessa Aumentado of the second district and Talibon Mayor Janette Garcia also gave their respective message of thanks for the successful construction of the building.

“The success in our institution is not dependent on the size of the court, or the number of cases in our courts, nor is it dependent on the location. Our success in our duty of delivering justice is determined by each one of us in all of our courts, no matter where they may be located,” Gesmundo said in his keynote speech.

“The judiciary is one institution. The success of one is the success of all, much as the failure of one is a reflection of the judiciary as a whole.”

RTC Talibon executive judge Azucena Macalolot-Credo welcomed the guests during the opening program while Judge Marie Menchavez, Talibon-Getafe Municipal Circuit Trial Court introduced the keynote speaker.

Judge Jenny Lind Aldecoa-Delorino, Visayas Deputy Court Administrator; lawyer Camille Sue May Ting, Supreme Court spokesperson; and lawyer Racquel Ladrillano, Office of the Hall of Justice chief, were present during the event, along with their legal staff, working group, and court judges.

Lawyers Karie Escatron-Cabando and Kristine Joy Puracan-Tragura were the masters of the ceremony. (PiMO/JSS)
