Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado on Tuesday urged Boholanos to emulate the bravery and resilience of the heroes on the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor.
“The strength and determination that they have shown during our nation’s darkest hours should be emulated and drawn upon as an inspiration for all of us,” he said.
He added that remembrance is a duty that should be fulfilled not just once a year.
This year’s commemoration was held at the Capitol Grounds on April 9 with a wreath and flower ceremony, followed by gun salutes as well as a song and dance presentation to invoke blessings and messages from invited participants.
Aumentado noted that Boholano veterans have done so much to ensure that future generations will enjoy the blessings of freedom and democracy as well as safeguard the nations sovereignty.
“Magsilbi unta kining atong kalihokan nga inspirasyon, himoon natong giya ang kinabuhi sa atong mga bayani ug ang mga beterano aron di kita mahadlok nga atubangon ug makamugna ug lig-ong katilingbang Bol-anon,” the governor said.
[This activity should serve as an inspiration, let’s make life a guide for our heroes and veterans so that we will not be afraid to face them and create a strong Bol-anon society.]
Also present during the event were Board Members Nathaniel Binlod, Lucille Lagunay, Aldner Damalerio, Romulo Cepedoza, Jamie Aumentado Villamor, League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) -Bohol chapter president Mayor Eping Estavilla, lawyer Abel Damalerio who represented Rep. Edgar Chatto, JP Maslog who represented Rep. Vanessa Aumentado, lawyer Glenn Anino representing Vice Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite, Cathlyn Torremocha who represented Mayor Jane Yap, and officials of the Philippine Veterans Office, Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection.
