The police intelligence officer who was killed in Bilar clash was laid to rest Wednesday afternoon, March 6, with a 21-gun salute in his honor.

Before the burial, a mass was offered at the Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish for Police Corporal Gilbert Josol Amper, Jr, who served as intelligence officer of the Bohol Police Provincial Office.

Amper, 30, who was part of the operation to serve the arrest warrants against Domingo “Kumander Cobra” Compoc, was killed while serving warrants of arrest against Bohol Party committee leader Domingo Jaspe Compoc in Sitio Matin-ao 2, Barangay Campagao in Bilar, Bohol on Feb. 23, which also resulted in the latter’s death and other four members of the New People’s Army.

Vice President and Department of Education Secretary Inday Sara Duterte visited Amper’s wake on Tuesday night.

Last week, the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Central Visayas posthumously awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP Heroism Medal).

Last week, Gov. Aris Aumentado personally hander over P100, 000 cahs assistance to the family.

“Nahisubo kita sa nahitabo kaniya sa bag-uhay pa lamang na engkwentro, apan nisaludo usab kita sa iyang gipakita nga pakigbisog alang sa kalinaw ug kahapsay sa atong mahal nga probinsya. Rest in peace, PCpl Amper, ug dili namo kalimtan ang imong gibuhat nga paghatag sa imong kaugalingon alang sa kaayuhan sa tanan, ” said Aumentado.

Benjie Oliva, a former commissioner of the National Youth Commisioner, thanked Amper for his heroism.

“My snappy salute to our fallen Police Corporal Gilbert Josol Amper, Jr. for giving his life for our country! Thank you for your great service, sacrifice and contribution for a peaceful Bohol. The Boholano community are very proud of your bravery and heroism. To the bereaved family, my deepest condolences. May our Boholano Hero Rest In Peace in the Hands of God Almighty, ” he posted on Facebook.
