The Bohol Employment and Placement Office-Public Employment Service Office (BEPO-PESO) held its first local and overseas job fair on March 2 at the Bohol Cultural Center.
Dubbed as “abregana”, a Visayan word of Spanish origin meaning appetizer, the activity, kicked off the first of three regular job fairs spearheaded by the office to accommodate Boholano jobseekers and give them opportunities to land jobs either locally or abroad.
The activity is part of human capital and workforce development under the strategic governance roadmap of the Provincial Government under the leadership of Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Vilma Yorong, BEPO-PESO head said as she welcomed employers and jobseekers.
Aumentado, in a message read by Board Member Lucille Lagunay, assured that the provincial government is committed to ensuring a better life for all Boholanos.
The three job fairs, Abregana, Sandugo and CPG, are part of efforts to open opportunities to build a successful future, Lagunay read.
Aumentado thanked partners, employers and jobseekers, citing that their participation to the activity manifests their readiness to contribute to the province’s development.
First to be hired on the spot was Leody Bason who applied as service staff at Alturas Group of Companies.
Yorong said 24 local employers and 10 overseas recruitment agencies collaborated with BEPO-PESO for Abregana.
The job fair was also in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers, Department of Labor and Employment, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Social Security System as well as PESO managers from municipal governments.
