CAPITOL HANDS OVER P1.4 MILLION IN ARTS AND SPORTS SUPPLIES TO DEPED

Three high schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) Bohol division received a total of P1.4 million in musical instruments and sports equipment from the provincial government.

The ceremonial turnover to the three schools, all special program implementers of arts and sports, was held on Feb. 21 at the DepEd Bohol division Office.

Tubigon West Central High School (TWCHS) received sports equipment worth P500,000 while Cangawa National High School (CNHS) in Buenavista received media arts, music and dance supplies amounting to P560,000.

Meanwhile, Camayaan National High School in Loboc received musical equipment and supplies worth P400,000.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member Lucille Lagunay of the first district, who chairs of the committee on education, represented Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado during the handover.

According to Lagunay, the arts and sports supplies are gifts of partnership of the DepEd and the provincial government.

Under the leadership of Aumentado, together with the SP headed by Vice Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite, education is given the priority it deserves, Lagunay said, citing the strategic governance agenda that invests in education for a bright future of students and even teachers.

Jaypee Ian Morgia, OIC head of the Education and Development Center, said the arts and sports supplies were facilitated through the Special Education Fund in 2023.

Dr. Casiana Caberte, Deped Bohol schools division superintendent, received the arts and sports supplies. She thanked the provincial government, who she said is a reliable partner of DepEd.

“These arts and sports supplies are not just learning resources but tools to foster talent, nurture passion and create opportunities for learners to grow and develop,” added Dr. Carmela Restificar, Curriculum Implementation Division head.

She expressed gratitude to the provincial government, through the leadership of Aumentado along with SP, for the provision of learning resources that support the attainment of DepEd targets to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the curriculum on special program for the arts and special program in sports.

Dr. Jeanylette Ayson, Education Program Supervisor for Music Arts, Physical Education and Health, shared the efforts to address the lack of facilities, resources and materials to deliver the program for arts and sports in the beneficiary high schools.

The CNHS Rondalla, a primary beneficiary of the assistance, rendered a musical presentation of local folk songs.

Juven Cervantes, TWCHS principal, Lilibeth Laroga, CNHS principal, Nicomedes Acorda, Camayaan National High School principal graced the ceremonial turnover along with public schools district supervisors Maria Buenaveturada-Socorin of Loboc, Maria Mel Bilano, Tubigon West and Rafael Celocia, Buenavista II.

Also present during the occasion were Dr. Fay Luarez and Dr. Eduardo Ompad, DepEd Bohol Assistant Schools Division Superintendents. (PIMO/LMS)
