Intent on spreading government services and bringing the local government to the communities away from the government hub in Tagbilaran, Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado hints opening up a satellite office of the Bohol Capitol on the other side of the island.
Speaking during a press engagement Friday, the governor said he has plans to open an operational Capitol in Ubay, some 124 kilometers away and on the opposite end of Bohol.
The information stirred Boholanos from the other side of Bohol, who felt that this time, the full service of Capitol could be well within their reach.
At last, we do not have to wake up at down, wait for the first trip to Tagbilaran just to deliver communications to the governor, hand in requests for financial assistance and other transactions with the different offices of the Capitol. We wish this could be realized, so that we could also feel the provincial officials get closer to us, excitedly shared a barangay official of Casate, in Ubay.
It may be recalled that also during the administration of the governor’s father, the later Erico Aumentado also brought the Office of the Governor to constituents in eastern Bohol.
“While my father brought in the Governor’s Office to Ubay, I wish to bring the entire Capitol services there,” the young governor said.
The governor also added that it is not just the Governor’s Office that they wish to get to, technical assistance can also be had by other frontline offices.
As to the manning of the same, the governor said, we can always put in a skeletal staff, we also have workers at the offices in the Capitol who might be interested for a change of venue. And we can direct employees to man the offices opening up, he explained.
Unlike then when it was just the Office of the Governor that opened in Ubay, this time, attached offices under the Governor’s Office, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Office of the Provincial Agriculture, Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, Provincial Engineers Office, Provincial Motorpool, Budget and Management Office, Accountant’s Office, Provincial Social welfare and Development, Health Office, every office would be represented.
We hope to get the offices exactly where the underserved can be given quick help, so they can by themselves work out ways to improve their lots, with the government nearby, handholding them, the governor said.
Asked if this has something to do with the few employees at the Capitol who continue to troll against his administration, the young governor it laughed off.
He added that the constituents in northeastern Bohol also deserve to get the kind of service that the people from the other side of Bohol has.
They are also some Capitol employees from northern Bohol who also need to get closer to home. (rahc/PIA-7)
