In a significant step towards bolstering agricultural infrastructure, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Equipment Management Division (EMD) turned over 23 newly procured excavators for the Visayas Island Group, today, December 13, 2023.

This is in simultaneous to the Nationwide Turnover of 141 units of excavators to NIA Regional Offices, amounting to a significant investment of P766 million.

In the Visayas Turnover ceremony held at Zoomlion Yard, Mandaue City, Cebu this morning, the distribution of excavators included 9 units for NIA Region VI (Western Visayas), 6 units for NIA Region VII (Central Visayas), and 8 units for NIA Region 8 (Eastern Visayas).

The event was attended by key personnel from NIA Central Office EMD, alongside Equipment Unit Heads and Operators representing the said Visayas regions.

Notably, Cebu farmers were also present to witness the turnover, signifying the direct impact on local agriculture especially in optimizing irrigation systems and enhancing agricultural productivity in these areas.

This stride reflects the government’s commitment, through the leadership of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. and the NIA Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen, towards aiding farmers through modernizing irrigation infrastructure across the country.
