A forum was organized by the provincial government to address issues and concerns on the implementation of Provincial Ordinance 2020-035 otherwise known as the Revised Bohol Mining Ordinance.
With the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board and Provincial Mining Adjudication Board, the participation of Bohol contractors in the forum on Oct. 5 at the Pre-session Hall is crucial in the implementation of the ordinance particularly the issuance of special transport and disposal permit (STDP).
Gov. Aris Aumentado expressed gratitude to the contractors’ group for their openness in airing their concerns. He declared that the provincial government sees the need to balance the resolution of the concerns with the STDP and the effective implementation of the ordinance.
During the forum, lawyer Paul Magallano of the Provincial Legal Office presented the salient features of the ordinance while Engr. Ana Luisa Galicinao, Bohol Mineral Resources Regulatory Office head discussed the guidelines and requirements for the issuance of the STDP.
Meanwhile, Ret. Col. Eduardo Malig-on, Bohol Environmental Protection Task Force head, tackled violations of the ordinance and its fines and penalties.
The forum was aimed at levelling off issues and concerns on the implementation of Provincial Ordinance 2020-035 or the Revised Bohol Mining Ordinance, particularly on the Issuance of Special Transport and Disposal Permit (STDP).
Provincial Legal Officer Handel Lagunay noted that the contractors’ group can include waste excavation activities in their project costing to cover STDP fees as one of remedies while Galicinao assured the ease of application and granting of permits.
A forum for quarry operators and mineral traders is scheduled on Oct. 20 to further address concerns on the enforcement of the ordinance. (PIMO/LMS)
