Former newsman Francisco “Frank” Hontalba Iyog died Saturday, July 8, after a lingering illness. He was 73.
Iyog’s family announced his death via social media.
His daughter Jeaneth deacribed him as “good looking, intelligent, generous, diligent, thoughtful, maPR, madiskarte, once palahubog but sikat.”
In a Facebook post, veteran broadcaster Bob Galero announced the passing of Iyog, his close friend and media colleage.
Iyog hosted “Abante Bohol” over dyXT-RMN Radyo for many years until it transferred to dyTR in 2005.
A native of Dauis town, Iyog was known for his hard-hitting tackling of public issues and current events.
Iyog marked his Abante Bohol anniversary celebration with charitable events like giving of bundle of joys to indigents.
He also served as correspondent and managing executive of Bohol Times.
He also founded the defunct Bohol Media Workers-BMW Club.
After he retired from the media, he worked as a casual employee at the provincial govenrment of Bohol from 2010-2019.
