Utility power distributor Bohol Light Company Inc (BLCI) has inaugurated its newly acquired 20 megavolt ampere (MVA) mobile substation on Tuesday afternoon, June 20.
The mobile substation is set to significantly boost the city’s power capacity and reliability, making it more attractive to potential investors.
Engr. Paulino Almedilla, general manager of BLCI, said that the 20MVA mobile substation is ready to support the development of Tagbilaran and nearby areas.
The new substation is part of BLCI’s efforts to improve power reliability and quality in Bohol.
The company has been investing heavily in its power capacity in recent years, and the new substation is a significant step
forward in this effort.
It is also ensuring reliability and providing backup in case one line fails.
He said the substation was tested, energized and commissioned last May.
“To improve our services to the communities,” said Almedilla.
The substation, which can power up to 100,000 homes, can be easily transported to other locations in Bohol if needed.
The inauguration and switch-on ceremony was attended by 1st district Rep. Edgardo Chatto, Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap,
BLCI. President Dennis Villareal, BLCI chairman of the board Alfredo Henares, and employees.
With the substation now operational, the city will have a more stable and reliable power supply, making it an ideal location for businesses looking to invest in Tagbilaran city.
