One New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was killed in an encounter with government troopers in Antequera on Friday morning, May 12.

A report from Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO), a certain “Jasper” was identified by NPA surrenderees and E-CLIP beneficiaries, as the one killed during the encounter with the 47th IB.

No casualties and injuries with government side, BPPO added.

Recovered from the scene were several war materials including one (1) Cal .45 pistol with magazine assembly and several live ammunition.

Lieutenant General Benedict Arevalo, the Commander of Visayas Command lauded the troops for their unwavering commitment to peace and security.

“I commend our troops for their steadfast commitment in ending the local communist armed conflict in the Visayas region. This is a clear manifestation of our strong desire to attain just and lasting peace and sustain the democratic way of life for all the people in this part of the country, ” Arevalo said.

He further emphasized “The continuous fall of the CPP–NPA implies that the terrorist group continues to weaken. The whole-of-nation approach has indeed gained ground in the region. As such, we will sustain our gains to further push the terrorist group to a point of irreversible collapse.”

“We are resolute in our ceaseless campaign to end the local communist armed conflict which has disrupted the lives and progress of our people in the Visayas. We, therefore, reiterate our call to the few remaining members of the CPP–NPA to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law. Heed the call of our government for genuine peace before the long arms of justice will catch up with you,” Arevalo said.
