Ubay gasoline robbery: Employee shot dead

Investigation is still ongoing to shed light on the robbery that took place in a gasoline station in Barangay San Pascual in Ubay town, Bohol on Monday, April 17.

Captain Jomar Balasbas, chief of Ubay police station, said they have already secured several closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage near the establishment to help them trace the suspects’ identities. 

It happened past 5 p.m. Monday at the Sailor Oil gasoline station in Barangay San Pascual.

The entire incident was caught on surveillance camera.

Captain Romar Labasbas, chief of the Ubay Police Station, said two armed robbers who alighted from a motorcycle hit the Sailor Oil gas station along a national highway in Barangay San Pascual.

One of the robbers immediately approached Marlowe Jayoma Amparado, 29, the security escort of a collector of the said gasoline station.

Amparado attempted to stop the suspect, however, the robber shot him several times. The suspect went to the gasoline’s office to take the money.

The two unidentified men were able to take away at least P350,000.

Another security guard identified as Pastor Troniba Jr also sustained gunshot wounds.

Col. Lorenzo Batuan, director of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO), said the crime was already planned by the suspects.

“Planado. Nahibal-an nila ang lihok sa kadtong biktima. Ang maong [gasoline] station mao ang last station sa collection,” said Batuan on Tuesday’s press conference.

Batuan said that at least one person of interest is being investigated.
