Residents living the Wahig River in Pilar town have been advised to move to higher ground as Malinao (Pilar) Dam has overflowed.

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in Central Visayas issued a statement warning the public about the eventuality.

“In a span of 2 hours and 15 minutes water level of Malinao Dam in Pilar Bohol has increased to 24 cm due to the Low Pressure Area (Bohol is under Orange Rainfall Warning),” it said in a Facebook post at 3 p. m.

“This is very alarming. It is estimated that by 5PM dam will reach 153.5cm (same level durinf Super Typhoon Odette). Evacuate before 5PM,” it added.

The water level at Malinao Dam was at 152. 07 meters, which is in its full capacity of 152 meters, and much above the critical level of 146.5 meters.

Bayongan Dam in San Miguel, Capayas and Benliw Dams in Ubay and Talibon Dam also reached full capacity.
