For the first time during the pandemic, the municipality of Ubay celebrated its founding anniversary “normally.”

For the past two years, the town of Ubay has been holding simple celebrations to mark its anniversary since strict measures were implemented during the pandemic.

On Thursday (Sept. 1), top officials of the Bohol province headed by Governor Aris Aumentado and Vice Governor Victor Balite, together with Provincial Board member Jamie Aumentado Villamor, Rep. Vanessa Aumentado and Ubay Mayor Constantino Reyes and Vice Mayor Victor Bonghanoy, including the councilors and department heads, led the opening salvo of the celebration.

Department of Agriculture regional director Joel Elumba was the guest speaker.

It started with a Holy Mass at Ramon Magsaysay gymnasium. It was followed by the opening of the Agri-Fishery Trade Fair which displayed agricultural products and delicacies.

Aumentado, in his speech, expressed gratitude and joy that the Ubayanons are celebrating the town’s anniversary.

Ubay, a first class municipality, has at least 82,000 residents.

Aumentado said that Ubay, the birth place of his father, the late Gov. Erico Aumentado, has been his home for a long time.

He said Ubay has survived the challenges and struggle it has faced – the pandemic and the typhoon Odette.

As a three-termer representative, he helped to develop Ubay and provided projects that ease the lives of the people.
