The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 7-Bohol Integrated Irrigation System received a rubber boat from 2nd District Board Member Atty. Jamie Aumentado Villamor recently in a turnover ceremony at Farmers’ Hall, Capayas IS, Ubay.

“We used to utilize a bamboo raft and now that we have this boat, it will be easier to navigate and reach even the farthest skirts of the reservoir during clearing and other maintenace activities, ” NIA-R7 Acting Regional Manager Engr. Reyne B. Ugay said.

Villamor clarified that the boat and its safety gears were purchased from her personal money and not from government funds.

As NIA’s former Corporate Board Secretary, Villamor knew the relevance of NIA to the farmers hence her assistance to the agency.

“NIA plays a vital role from planning, design, construction, operation, management, maintenance, and even the rehabilitation and repair of the irrigation systems,” said Villamor. “Hence, it is only fitting to support and give importance to the equipment they need.”

BIIS Head Engr. Evelina P. Putong signed the turn-over documents to formally accept the responsibility for safe-keeping the donation.

Meanwhile, Villamor committed to give additional boats for the monitoring and maintenance of BIIS. With a report from NIA-7
