Several towns in Bohol province got a boost for their healthcare services after the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) donated new well-equipped ambulances.

The 27 new ambulances were turned over to Bohol mayors on Friday, Aug. 26, 2022 at the People’s Mansion by Dr.  Jaime Bernadas, director of DOH-Central Visayas.

The turnover was witnessed by the officials of the Department of Health (DOH)-7,  Gov. Aris Aumentado,  Vice Gov. Victor Balite,  Reps.  Edgar Chatto (1st district) ,  Vanessa Aumentado (2nd district) and Alexie Besas- Tutor (3rd district), provincial health officer Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot, and several mayors.

Some mayors personally received the ambulance complete with stretchers and medical equipment and supplies for their towns. 

The recipients were Calape Mother and Child Hospital in  Calape,  San Miguel Hospital in  San Miguel; Tubigon Community Hospital in  Tubigon,  Alburquerque Rural Helath Unit (RHU), Alicia RHU,  Baclayon RHU,  Balilihan RHU, Bien Unido RHU, Buenavista RHU,  Calape RHU,  Candijay RHU,  Catigbian RHU,  Corella RHU,  Dagohoy RHU,  Dimiao RHU,  Dauis RHU 1,  Getafe RHU,  Inabanga RHU,  Jagna RHU II,  Lila RHU,  Loon RHU 1 and II,  Panglao RHU,  Sagbayan RHU,  Talibon RHU and Tubigon RHU. 

Bernadas said municipalities are the frontliners for preventive and community medicine.

He said the ambulances, where patients can be monitored, are a big help because of the long queues of patients at the hospitals. 

Aumentado expressed his gratitude to the agency, as this will help improve healthcare services in towns.

“Please take of the ambulance as we take care of our people, ” Tutor appealed to the mayors.

Chatto and Vanessa Aumentado thanked the DOH-Central Visayas Center for the new ambulances to be used in emergency cases.

The ambulance were procured out of the general approriation act (GAA) 2022. It was former Dauis Mayor now Vice Mayor Marietta Tocmo-Sumaylo, who was then president of the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) – Bohol, who asked for ambulance donation from from former President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Bong Go.
