DepEd-Tagbilaran joins Brigada Eskwela

The Department of Education (DepEd)-Tagbilaran has joined this year’s National “Brigada Eskwela” on Aug. 1 as part of its preparations for the incoming school year (SY) 2022-2023.

With the theme, “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik Aral,” the activity aims to ensure that schools will be prepared before the opening of classes.

Also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week, the “Brigada Eskwela” has been conducted annually in public schools nationwide.

The activity, which gathers various stakeholders, is held weeks before the school opening to ensure the smooth opening of classes for the incoming school year.

At Manga National High School, principal Grace Marie Campos welcomed the City Division Officials headed by Schools Superintendent Dr. Joseph Irwin Lagura.

Tagbilaran City officials headed by Mayor Jane Yap also graced the event.

Other stakeholders from different agencies and groups attends the event to express their willingness in extending their support.

Lagura expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the stakeholders who have been supporting the endeavors of all the schools of the Division of Tagbilaran City.

“Ang Brigada Eskwela usa ka pista sa mga serbisyo ug tabang para sa mga magtutudlo ug mga magtutuo, ” said Lagura. He also reminded stakeholders that all kinds of support and services are welcome not just during the maintenance month but for the whole school year.

Yap also pledged her full support for the betterment of the all the schools of the Division of Tagbilaran City. She assured that she will extend assistance.

Aside from DepEd teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, and other members of the community, representatives from private and public sectors also participate in the “Brigada Eskwela.”

During the activity, facilities are assessed and repaired to ensure that the schools will be ready to welcome the students when classes officially start.

Based on DepEd Memorandum No. 34 series of 2022 or the “School Calendar and Activities for the School Year 2022-2023,” this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” will be held from Aug, 1 to Aug. 26, 2022.

Along with the “Oplan Balik Eskwela” set to start on Aug. 15, the “Brigada Eskwela” will be focusing on information campaigns, preparations, and strengthening partnerships that complement DepEd’s effort to “ensure quality basic education.”

As announced earlier, classes for public schools for SY 2022-2023 will officially start on Aug. 22.

The enrollment period, which started on July 25, will also end on the first day of classes for this SY.
