FVR passes away at 94—state media

Former president Fidel Valdez Ramos passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 31, according to state-run PTV.

He was 94 years old.

According to reports, he died due to complications brought about by Covid-19. 

He was hailed as a hero during the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, when he broke away from the administration of President Marcos. He then aligned himself with the newly established government of then President Corazon Aquino.

Popularly known as “FVR”, he is the 12th president of the Republic of the Philippines, serving from 1992-1998.

He was born on March 18, 1928 in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
