Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap has been chosen as the regional representative for Central Visayas of the League of Cities in the Philippines (LCP) in an election in Manila on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama was elected as new president of LCP.
Yap is currently in Manila for the LCP elections held at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City.
The League of Cities was created in 1988 in accordance with Republic Act (RA) 7160, the ‘Local Government Code,’ to help ventilate and crystallize the issues affecting city government administrations and to act as a catalyst to solve issues at hand.
The Local Government Code also specifies that the League of Cities is mandated to give priority to programs designed to develop cities in conjunction with national policies.
