TAGBILARAN CITY- Boholanos would save to the thousands in costs and hassle, thanks to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) which has opened in Bohol a Civil Registration Service (CRS) outlet at the second floor of the JLU Centre Bloc, Uptown IT Hub, adjacent to the Island City Mall, here.

A dream which PSA Bohol head Jessamyne Anne Alcazaren has been relentlessly working to realize, the outlet would allow Boholanos to get hold of their authenticated civil registry documents in a day or two.

Then, depending on the transaction process, Boholanos can get their authenticated birth certificates or certificates of live birth, marriage certificate or their relative’s death certificate in five days to more than month.

Now, unless one desires for a certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR) which can be had in 24 hours, a Boholano can get hold of his documents in security paper (SECPA) in a day, says Alcazaren, during the opening of the new facility.

The new outlet also eliminates the need for Boholanos to go to Cebu or Dumaguete where CRS Outlets are located.

With boat fares, which can reach a thousand, to food and miscellaneous expenses, not counting at least a day wasted just to personally get their authenticated documents, having a facility that can serve this need in Tagbilaran is already an opportunity to save, hints PSA Assistant Secretary Leo B. Malagar, who was there during the CRS outlet launch.

With Asec. Malagar was Assistant National Statistician Engr. Marizza B. Grande, PSA Regional Director Engr. Ariel E. Florendo and PSA Bohol chief Jessamyne Anne Alcazaren with City mayor John Geesnell Yap II in the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the CRS outlet.

Mayor Yap, in his message hailed the PSA for making available in Bohol this frontline service.

He said they have cases of students and athletes asking for financial assistance to travel to Cebu to get their civil registry records.

The newly opened outlet, which caters to clients needing a hard copy of their or their relative’s authenticated Birth Certificates, Certificate of Live Birth, Marriage Certificate, Death Certificate and Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) immediately started its official functions in releasing civil registration and authenticated documents in security paper in the afternoon of May 2, after a fitting opening program and rites.

And in the ongoing threat of the disease, the PSA in Bohol has advanced the information to anyone intending to visit the CRS outlet for a transaction: bring your vaccination card, as this will allow you to get access to the services.

In fact, in a short soon, the CRS would implement an online booking system to limit the number of people waiting for their turns.

On this, Alcazaren said as soon as you have booked and confirmed an appointment, be there as the PSA may not anymore entertain clients with lapsed appointments. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
