Some Boholanos were treated to an extremely rare sighting of a double rainbow following a period of heavy rainfall on Monday afternoon, March 15.
The double rainbows were visible in Tagbilaran City, Baclayon, Alburquerque, Loay, Lila and Dimiao.
Residents were quick to post photos of the
faint double rainbow on Facebook.
Tagbilaran resident Fiel Angeli Araoarao-Gabin said she “always believed that a rainbow is a symbol of hope from God.”
“The most beautiful rainbow I’ve ever seen in my lifetime from the vantage point of the 3rd floor roof deck … Unfortunately, my cellphone camera was unable to fully capture the captivating and awe-inspiring beauty of the double rainbow,” Gabin posted in Facebook.
According to the UK’s MetOffice, double rainbows usually form whenever sunlight gets reflected twice within a raindrop, with the violet light that we can see coming from higher raindrops, and the red light coming from lower raindrops.
For others such sighting left an even deeper impression considering that double rainbows can be taken as signs of good luck, transformation, a new beginning, and comfort for the dead.
