Teacher, artist and writer Dr. Michele Solis-Rellita, Ph.D. passed away at 4 a. m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022.

Her friends and colleagues confirmed her death. Holy Name University also confirmed Rellita’s death in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

Rellita was a former teacher of Holy Spirit School of Tagbilaran (HSS-T) and Holy Name University (HNU) College of Education.

She was also a lecturer and puppeteer.

She was a member of the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Council who belonged to the Committees on Literary Arts and Visual Arts.

Colleagues and former students who knew Rellita mourned her sudden death through social media.

“Ma’am Michele, you were one of the few who believed in me and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. You were one, if not the most eloquent person I knew. You are always loved. We greatly appreciate the time you’ve taken to share your knowledge with us, your Sped major students. Thank you Ma’am Michele and may your soul find rest,” said Zen Ellevera in a Facebook post.

Film producer Achinette Villamor said her “favorite teacher just passed away.”

“She was the first to incorporate cinema in her high school English and Christian Living classes 1995 to 1999. She didn’t have to. But, she did and it opened a door for me into a world of ideas. There is a world out there bigger and far more remarkable than I can imagine where words are powerful, where words change lives. “Go on, lean in,” Mr. Keating urges his classroom of boys in Dead Poets Society, the first film she showed our class. “Listen, you hear it? – Carpe – hear it? – Carpe, Carpe Diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary.” Dr. Michele Solis Rellita is Mr. Keating to me. I honor her memory today,” said Villamor.

“Rest in eternal peace our dearest artist writer teacher Dr Michele Rellita Thank you so much!!!” said award-winning theater artist and musical scorer Gardy Labad.
