There is no crocodile found roaming in Loay river following the heavy flooding during the onslaught of typhoon Odette last year contrary to reports that crocodiles have reportedly escaped from a zoo facility in typhoon-hit Loay town.

Alleged reports said crocodiles escaped from a sanctuary in the said town that incurred major damage from the typhoon.

Another report circulated that one man was reportedly injured after being bitten by one of the crocodiles.

In a Facebook post, Loay Mayor Hilario Ayuban Jr denied such reports.

“Sa mga Loaynon o’ Lobocanon nga nabalaka mahitungod sa istorya-istorya nga adunay buwaya nga nakit-an sa atong Suba, ato dayong gipa imbestigaran sa atong Coast Guard Sub-Station Loay ang posibilidad sa maong istorya,” he said.

He said Loay (Xzootic), a tourism destination in Agape, owned by SB Member Eman Palapar, housed crocodiles in cages.

However, these crocodiles died during the typhoon.

Ayuban said he would ask the Coastguard in Sevilla town if there were captive crocodiles.

“Sa istoryang BUAYA, bawal ang MARITES,” he ended his post.
