The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Bohol opened its Negosyo Center (NC) – Antequera to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises last December 7, 2021 to promote ease of doing business.

DTI Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations Group Asteria Caberte and DTI Bohol Provincial Director Maria Soledad Balistoy together with Antequera Mayor Lilioso Nunag and Vice-Mayor Jose Mario Pahang led the opening of the Negosyo Center. Witnessed by heads of offices and local officials of LGU-Antequera, a warm reception was given to dignitaries during the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the NC located at Tourist Information and Display Center, Antequera, Bohol.

Vice-Mayor Pahang gave the opening remarks and noted how DTI has been able to support and sustain the robust basket industry in Antequera through the years. Meanwhile, Mayor Nunag expressed his full support of the Negosyo Center and its services as Antequera gears its road to recovery from the pandemic. “The establishment of Negosyo Center in our municipality signals a positive drive to pursue a stronger partnership between the Local and National Government Units in delivering services closer to MSMEs,” said Mayor Nunag.

DTI Bohol Provincial Director Maria Soledad Balistoy highlighted the role of Negosyo Centers in driving the economic growth of a municipality through its services: Business Registration, Business Advisory, as Business Information and Advocacy as well as access to Finance and Market.

In her message of support, DTI Asec. Asteria Caberte reiterated that the establishment of Negosyo Center – Antequera is DTI’s decades-long commitment in uplifting the MSMEs and cottage industry in the Municipality. “For years, DTI has been assisting MSMEs in Antequera. And with the Negosyo Center, our services can now be accessed easier and faster without the need of going to the City [of Tagbilaran],”said Asec. Caberte.

A distribution of Negosyo Kits followed the launching with twelve MSME beneficiaries were given with P 8,000 worth of vouchers under the Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay.

The Republic Act 10644 or the Go Negosyo Act mandates the creation of Negosyo Centers in every municipality, city and province throughout the country to help grow the MSME sector that accounts for around 99 percent of registered businesses in the Philippines.

Negosyo Center – Antequera is the 6th NC in the First District joined by the Provincial Office, Bohol BOSS, Panglao, Tubigon, and Loon. DTI Bohol has previously launched other NCs in Trinidad, San Miguel and Valencia with one (1) more to be launched this year to come up with a total target of 21 NCs in full operations across the province.
