Tagbilaran City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio “Toto” Veloso and City Councilor Agustinus “Dodong” Gonzaga formally announced their bid to run as mayor and vice mayor in the upcoming May 2022 elections.
Gonzaga confirmed their intentions during dyTR’s Cuentas Claras program on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021.
Veloso, who is in his last term, is the standard bearer of their group ToDo (Toto-Dodong) while Gonzaga is the candidate for vice mayor.
The Pundok Panaghiusa of Mayor Baba Yap was already disbanded when some of its members formed ToDo group.
When program co-host retired RTC Bohol Executive Judge Susing Arcamo asked if they already have any blessings from the two top provincial officials, Gonzaga’s brother-in-law”, Gonzaga said they do not rely on any authorization for the purpose of serving the Tagbilaranons.
Veloso is Chatto’s brother-in-law, while Gonzaga is Relampagos’ brother-in-law.
Gonzaga bared they had completed their line up and that there were even more people who wanted to join them.
Gonzaga, however, refused to divulge the names of their councilors until they can file their certificate of candidacies in October.
A source told Bohol Island News that
incumbent Councilor Jonas Cacho and Pob. 1 Barangay Captain Arlene Karaan had joined the ToDo Tagbilaran group.
The filing period for candidates for the 2022 election is set on October 1-8, this year, seven months before the actual elections.
