Mayor Baba top performing official in Region 7- survey

An independent group survey has picked Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap as one of the best-performing local chief executives in Central Visayas.

RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. survey said Yap ranked second with 70 percentage mark, making him the second “Top 5 City Mayors” in Central Visayas.

The RPMD fulfilled its nationwide survey from August 1-10, 2021 for all mayors, governors and members of the House of Representatives for their over-all performance.

Other “Top 5 City Mayors” in Central Visayas were Mayor Jonas C. Cortes of Mandaue City was the Top Mayor in Central Visayas with 71 percentage points job performance rating. The 3rd spot was attained by Mayor Pryde Henry Teves of Bayawan City with 69.5 percentage score while Mayor Felipe Remollo of Dumaguete City placed 4th with 69.1% rating. The 5th position was acquired by Mayor Junard Q. Chan of Lapu-Lapu City of Cebu City with 68 percentage vote.

“The ratings and rankings are greatly dependent on their job performances. The expectations and duties of the Mayors are extensive that encompasses several roles being the local Chief Executive —supervise and implement all policies and programs, projects and services of the LGU.
Enforce all laws and ordinances in relation to the governance of the city. Initiate and maximize the generation of resources and revenues and use these for implementing plans. Most importantly, addressing and responding to the effects of the covidl9 pandemic—-those who ranked no. 1-5 should be recognized and commended for performing well,” said Dr. Paul Martinez, Executive Director of RPMD.

The “RPMD Public Satisfaction Survey” conducted by RP- Mission and Development Foundation Inc. is an independent, non-commissioned nationwide survey and performed per district/city in every region with a total of 10,000 respondents and were asked “Do you approve or disapprove of the way [name of Mayor/Governor/District Representative] is handling his/her job as (Mayor/Governor/District Representative)?”
