Bohol Vice Governor Rene Lopez Relampagos has condoled with the family of former President Benigno Aquino III, who passed away early Thursday at the age of 61, and thanked him for helping Bohol’s recovery after the province was devastated by the strong earthquake in 2013.

“I am one with the country in mourning the death of former President Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III. His loss is heartbreaking and I am filled with profound sadness over the news of his passing,” Relampagos said.

Relampagos was Representative of the First Congressional District of the Province of Bohol during his time in office.

” During my term in Congress, we crafted and passed laws that greatly benefited our beloved people. A good number of these laws were landmark legislation that we continuously enjoy to this day and for generations to come. I remember him most for fervently championing good governance as he served the nation tirelessly towards transparency and accountability. His unwavering passion for serving the Filipino people was his utmost motivation,” Relampagos recalled.

Above all, he said, the province of Bohol owed much of its rebuilding success to PNoy and his administration.

“It can be recalled that in the aftermath of the 2013 Great Bohol Earthquake, PNoy was with us on the ground, even sleeping in a makeshift tent in the Municipality of Loon. He saw firsthand the damage and suffering that we endured and the Aquino administration labored intensely towards getting Bohol back on its feet. Many years have passed and Bohol is relishing the vast development that we have collaborated and worked hard for,” Relampagos said.

“His tagline, “Kayo ang boss ko!” will forever be etched in my heart. It is a constant reminder that public service is for the best interest of the people. It has and always will serve as an inspiration for me in ardently leading the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol to the very best of my abilities, all for the love of Bohol,” he added.
