Five rebels died and one soldier was wounded when members of the Philippine Army’s 47th Infantry Batallion clashed with suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Bilar town on Tuesday morning, May 25, 2021.
1Lt Elma Grace Remonde, spokesperson of 47th Infantry(Katapatan) Battalion, said army soldiers conducted a security operation in Barangay Cabacnitan when they encountered 11 armed men.
They pursued the fleeing rebels and engaged them in an encounter at 5:30 a. m.
The clash ended at around 7 a. m.
