The Trans-Asia Shipping Lines Incorporated on Friday said that the cargo vessel which ran aground in the seawaters off Cabilao Island was no longer owned by company.

“We have received news of MV Trans-Asia 5 running aground in Bohol. Please be informed that Trans-Asia 5 was already sold to a foreign buyer last January 15, 2021,” the statement said.

“The vessel is in effect not part of Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, Inc. fleet,” it added.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said the cargo vessel “MV Trans-Asia 5” ran aground in the waters off Cabilao Island early Friday morning.

A team from the PCG has visited the incident site to inspect for possible oil spill and to find the actual cause of the incident, Seaman Second Class Rodel Astronomo of PCG-Western Bohol said.
