Bohol Governor Arthur Yap and some of his staff have undergone voluntary self isolation after he was exposed to a delegate tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a video message posted on his Facebook page, Yap said that a delegate of the Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX) 2020 which was held in a resort in Panglao tested positive of Covid-19 upon arrival in Manila.

“Base sa Medical protocols nga atong gisunod dinhi sa Bohol, ako sa akong mga staff niboluntaryo nga nag-isolate sa among kaugalingon ug mopaubos usab kami sa RT-PCR test sa panahon nga tugutan mi sa atong mga doctor,” said Yap.

Yap said he even asked those he met two days ago to undergo isolation.

“Maski pa og misunod ta sa lagda sa physical distancing, ako na usab gipahibaw ang tanan nakong nahimamat sulod sa niaging duha ka adlaw kabahin sa sitwasyon ug gihangyo nako sila nga magpa isolate usab,” he said.

He said he has no symptoms and in good health.

“Sa pagkakaron, wala akoy gibati bga sintomas, ug himsog pud ta buyag. Ayaw mo katuo sa mga istorya nga nigawas nga na-infected ta. Fake news ra ang tanan, ” Yap clarified.

He said he was simply putting into action thenprotocols the province had prepared in the fight against Covid-19.

He said it is part of the challenges he has to face as the father of the province.

“Parte usab kini sa atong mga buhaton sa atong pagbalanse ug pagsiguro sa kaluwasan sa tanang katawhan ug ang paghinay-hinay nga pag-abli sa ekonomiyang turismo aron matubag ang panginahanglan sa trabaho, kagutom ug kaliaod sa libuan natong mga kaigsuonang Bol-anon,” he said.

Yap said he constantly reminds himself that because of the thousands of his fellow Boholanos who have lost jobs and opportunities he has to stand and work hard to answer their needs.

“Mohangyo ako kaninyo sa makausa pa i-apil ako sa inyong mga pag-ampo, iampo nato ang akong mga kaubanang opisyal nga nangalagad kaninyo. Iampo nato ang atong lalawigan ug maghugop kita, maghiusa kita para sa kaluwasan nato ug kaayohan aa atong lalawigan, ” Yap said.
