Actor Chadwick Boseman, who played as the regal Black Panther in the Marvel cinematic universe, died Friday of cancer, his representative said. He was 43.
In an announcement on the actor’s verified Twitter account, it said that the actor was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer back in 2016.
He battled with it these last four years as it progressed to stage IV.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” the statement read.
It added that in between filming Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, he also underwent countless surgeries and chemotheraphy.
Boseman, whose known for his character of King T’Challa in Black Panther, died in his home beside his wife and family.
“The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
