Bohol Governor Arthur Yap on Friday reported the province’s biggest single-day jump in Covid-19 cases including one death.

Yap reported that the Department of Health (DOH) informed him that there are 13 new Covid-19 positive cases.

There are six (6) new Covid-19 positive cases in Tagbilaran City, two (2) cases from Tubigon, 2 cases are from Ubay, one (1) case from Alicia, one (1) from Carmen, and one (1) from Danao who died while being admitted at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH).

In a public advisory, GCGMH said the patient, admitted last July 7, 2020, was managed as Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (Community Acquired Pneumonia-High Risk) and died on the eighth hospital day.

The patient was managed by the multi-disciplinary team of pulmonologists, critical care and infectious disease specialists.

“Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) was able to identify, isolate and admit a patient at our COVID-19 Critical Care Unit who turned out positive for COVID-19,” it said.

“We are assuring the public that contact tracing has been initiated by our Hospital Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit (HESU) and Infection Prevention & Control Unit (IPCU). We are closely coordinating with the provincial and regional authorities. We shall be releasing updates as developments arise,” it added.

Yap said the respective mayors have been informed and the names of those infected are being verified.

He further said the Provincial Health Office is now coordinating with the various municipal health officers of the concerned LGUs for contact tracing activities.

Yap asked residents to observe minimum health standards.

Mag-amping ta kanunay. Sundon nato ang minimum health standards. Panalipdan nato ang atong kaugalingon batok sa COVID-19,” he said.

Bohol has now 67 Covid-19 cases but 41 of them had already recovered and two have died.
