A controversial photo editing app returns on the limelight this year that even local leaders in Bohol could not resist to try out its interesting gender-swapping features.

Apart from adding a more ‘realistic’ touch to the user’s face, more natural-looking hair, FaceApp also offers users to try out how they would look if they were born in the opposite sex.

Are you curious to know what our local officials in Bohol would look like?

Bohol Island News compiled some of them that were posted on their Facebook pages and accounts. Here they are:

Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap

Bohol 2nd district Rep. Erico. Aristotle Aumentado

Bohol 3rd district Rep. Alexie Besas-Tutor

Board Member Jade Bautista

The controversial Russian photo editing app again made headlines after some technology experts warned of its risks saying it may be used for data mining especially that it is a facial recognition app.

So should we say “nay” to using this app?

According to a report by Manila Standard quoting Fabio Assolini, a senior security analyst at Kaspersky, the application does not contain any malicious elements.

However, since facial recognition is a technology used mainly for password authentication, the user must be very careful when sharing their image with third parties.

The app’s popularity isn’t new.

Back in 2019, the app stormed headlines on various news sites because of data privacy issues.
